On Independence day, 15th August 2020, Federation of Obstetrics & Gynecological Society of India (FOGSI), Emcure Pharmaceuticals, and Brand Ambassador Twinkle Khanna, collaborated for the #MoreThanBara initiative and launched Anemia Free India campaign on digital platforms to fight against anemia with the aim of reaching 5 Crore women of India.

Anemia is a condition where red blood cells are unable to carry adequate oxygen to the body’s tissues to meet the physiological needs of the body(1). This condition can also be defined as lower level of hemoglobin concentration, reduced other hematocrit and number of RBCs (Red blood cells)(2). Anemia is a major health problem globally as well as for India, affecting 1.62 billion people out of which 56 million are pregnant women.
